2/22/07 status update

Jen was discharged from the hospital on 2/21. On 2/22 we went to visit the kids and found out the head ultrasounds had been done with good preliminary results. Because of this we were both allowed to hold Alex the first time. What an awesome feeling! He continues to pave the way for his sister and brother being the first to do everything. His feedings are increasing and he's doing well with them.

Liz had her breathing tube removed on 2/21. She was happy about that but didn't like their replacement (nose prongs) at all. By the time we visited on 2/22 she was dealing with them much better. She may begin feedings the next day or two. Currently, she is just receiving nutrients by IV.

Zach still has his prongs in and still needs a little help to breathe on his own, but is doing well. He began feedings on 2/21 and is doing well with them. The boys also are getting nutrients by IV, but these will be reduced as the amount of milk they are given increases.

Thank you Jeremy and Jen. These babies are so awesome! What a joy it must have been to hold Alex for the first time. And how wonderful to see each baby take another step toward going home.
Love to all of you. Aunt Elaine
