We have CHOMPERS!!!!

Hello everyone,
It is official...the kids are starting to get teeth. All that drooling and chewing on things is starting to pay off! ;) Last week Alex started cutting a tooth and the next day Liz started and bypassed Alex. So Liz popped the first tooth. So as of right now both Liz and Alex have popped one of their bottom front teeth. Zach is still working on his. He has a 'bump' but it has not popped through. The teething process has not been too bad. We occasionally have a crabby kid but nothing too bad. Yet another milestone has been met.
News of another milestone. We feel that the kids may be walking by their first birthday. The way that Zach has progressed, I thought he was going to be walking by the end of this last weekend....no such luck though. All of the kids will walk along the couch great. Zach will stand on his own for a few seconds, which is getting longer and longer every day. Everyone does a great job pulling themselves up and standing. If they are walking by their birthday they will have hit that milestone on the head (that milestone happens between 12-15 months). I am hoping that the pediatrician will tell us at their one year checkup that we will not have to adjust them anymore. It has been a lot of hard to get where we are at but worth every minute.
One last note....as you know their first birthday is coming up. We are having a party for them but we are keeping it small, immediate family only. When we started planning and making a list of people to invite it was easily over 100 people. We do not feel comfortable exposing them to that many people in the middle of RSV season. So we are hoping to have a spring party, kinda like a coming out of hibernation party. This way everyone that has yet to meet the triplets or those who have only seen them once or twice can come visit them and us. It would be nice for everyone. So please don't feel left out with their birthday, a bigger party is in the works.

Eleven months ago today......

We brought our three miracles into this world.

They were:
- fragile.
- very tiny.
- very early.
- could not be held.
- had to touch them firmly, not stroke them as their nerve endings were very sensitive.
- connected to too many things (pumps, ventilators, monitors).
- in isolettes to help maintain their body temp.

We now have three children that:
- are excellent crawlers.
- can pull themselves up on pretty much anything.
- can walk with holding onto something like the couch.
- love to smile.
- love to talk to each other and us.
- love to play.
- can feed themselves finger foods.
- are growing like weeds.

We count our blessings every day. We are EXTREMELY fortunate to have these three little people in our lives to love, hold, care for, teach and learn from. Our hearts overflow with love for them. We would do it again in a heartbeat (minus the NICU stuff!)!

Liz was not the happiest in this picture. I will try to get a better one after they eat!!!

Julie and Zach in the NICU lobby when we went to the Nicu Christmas party. Julie was Zach's primary night nurse. As she says, she was the 2nd person ever to touch Zach. She was the nurse that 'caught' him after they pulled him from me. She is a special part of our lives.

Zach was playing with this laundry basket and it ended up on top of him. Who needs toys when there are laundry baskets.
